Turbulent Tides for Teens: We Run the Tides by Vendela Vida

A young girl stands her ground in this atmospheric story with a strong, teenage protagonist. Thirteen-year-old Eulabee is best friends with the dynamic Maria Fabiola, exploring the moody San Francisco sea cliffs where they live. All is well, until Eulabee is ostracized from Maria's clique because she refuses to go along with Maria's stories.

This is an engaging story with wonderful descriptions of San Francisco that evoke the sense of adventure and the mystique and madness of teenage years. A beautifully stirring coming-of-age story.
